Phase 2: Design the pilot as if it will need to scale

Many pilots are built like pop‑up shops: clever, unique, and impossible to replicate.

Instead, design for scale from day one:

  • Content: Are scenarios templated so they can be adapted for other sites, regions, or products?

  • Technology: Are you using an immersive training platform (XR, AI, and content management) that can be managed centrally and integrated with your existing systems?

  • Data: Do you know what will be tracked (scenario scores, practice frequency, time-to‑to‑competence) and where that data will live?

The goal is invisible sophistication: a handful of standards and templates that make every new use case faster and cheaper to deploy.

  • Define learning metrics: simulation completion, scenario pass thresholds, number of practice reps

  • Define business metrics: which of those baseline KPIs you expect to shift, and over what time frame

When pilots are set up like experiments, the performance gap is hard to ignore.

Organizations that rigorously baseline and measure training effectiveness are far more likely to report significant improvements in safety, quality, and productivity from immersive learning investments.
